A global travel group with a 180-year legacy has grown into a major international brand with more than 21,000 employees. Its operations span chartered and scheduled airlines, cruises, hotels, and travel services across multiple continents. As the business expanded, the organization needed a unified approach to talent management and reporting.
To support this strategy, the company adopted Taleo for talent management and used SAP BusinessObjects (BO) for Taleo reporting. When BO was scheduled for retirement from Taleo reporting, Oracle recommended a full migration to OBIEE.
DataTerrain, known for its proven delivery record, was selected to lead this transition.
DataTerrain was assigned three key goals:
DataTerrain’s specialists used an automated tool to perform a detailed assessment of the SAP BO report repository. The analysis captured essential information such as:
The team also identified BO-specific functions that required alternate implementation in OBIEE. The automation tool flagged potential migration issues linked to classes, joins, and relational definitions.
This analysis formed the basis of a structured migration plan approved by Oracle.
DataTerrain configured its automated utility to migrate the BO universe and all related components to the OBIEE RPD. Business logic and metadata were mapped to OBIEE’s physical, business model, and presentation layers.
Report formats, layouts, and data outputs were validated automatically to ensure exact one-to-one conversion. Any issues were resolved early to reduce rework during later phases.
Key users reviewed the validated reports as part of the acceptance process. Due to their involvement from project initiation, no major gaps were identified. After customer approval, the OBIEE environment and migrated reports were deployed to production.
The automated lift-and-shift method retained the familiar design and functionality of BO reports. This reduced training needs and enabled immediate adoption in OBIEE.
The migration followed Oracle-recommended practices. This ensured stable performance, easier maintenance, and reduced technical debt.
DataTerrain executed the project using a global delivery framework, allowing continuous progress and optimized cost.
DataTerrain’s long-standing relationship with Oracle enabled faster issue resolution and smooth support throughout the migration.
The migration from BO to OBIEE was completed on time and within budget. The customer achieved a lower total cost of ownership for their Taleo platform and gained access to modern OBIEE capabilities without losing historical reporting insights.
