A global technology conglomerate with a legacy of more than 173 years undertook a major digital modernization initiative. Operating across healthcare, industrial automation, mobility, energy, and infrastructure, the organization employs more than 293,000 people worldwide. As part of its transformation, the company migrated from PeopleSoft HRMS to Oracle Fusion HCM to support evolving business needs.
Following the HCM transition, the organization required the rapid migration of all PeopleSoft reports to Oracle Fusion HCM. To accomplish this, the company selected DataTerrain for its proven capability in delivering complex enterprise reporting migrations.
DataTerrain was chosen due to its extensive experience in PeopleSoft-to-Oracle HCM transitions, strong delivery record, and deep functional and technical expertise. The team also brought accelerators and pre-built Oracle HCM reports that closely aligned with existing PeopleSoft report formats. These accelerators significantly reduced development time and ensured consistency in migrated reports. In addition, DataTerrain’s structured methodology and focus on quality gave the customer confidence in achieving an on-time, on-budget migration.
DataTerrain used its proprietary migration framework to execute the project with accuracy and predictability. The structured approach covered analysis, conversion, validation, and rollout.
DataTerrain began by reviewing and documenting each PeopleSoft report. A corresponding Oracle HCM mapping document was created for every report, capturing column-level relationships and identifying gaps in source or target data structures. Missing fields were flagged early, and DataTerrain’s SMEs proposed alternatives or created fast formulas or value sets when required.
For new reporting needs not present in PeopleSoft, DataTerrain prepared detailed mapping and design documents based on user requirements. All records were reviewed and approved by stakeholders before development began.
Reports were developed using the most suitable Oracle HCM reporting tool based on data volume, layout complexity, and user expectations. Some reports were designed with OTBI to support visual dashboards and self-service analytics. Others were implemented in BI Publisher for formatted layouts requiring precise structure. In some instances, HCM Extracts were used to support bulk data output or downstream integration needs.
DataTerrain also provided pre-built Oracle HCM report templates that acted as accelerators during development. When product limitations or defects were identified in Oracle Fusion, DataTerrain coordinated with Oracle Support, raised SRs, and followed through until patches or fixes were delivered. Validation included a detailed comparison of layouts and data between PeopleSoft and Oracle HCM to ensure accuracy before user testing.
After successful functional validation, reports were promoted to production for final user acceptance. DataTerrain provided complete documentation and conducted knowledge-transfer sessions to prepare the customer team for ongoing support and maintenance. The structured documentation created during analysis and conversion ensured a smooth transition across environments.
The migration enabled the organization to take advantage of modern Oracle HCM capabilities. Users gained access to interactive dashboards, enhanced visualizations, personalized homepages, and mobile-ready reporting. The system improved the speed of information delivery and supported better decision-making across HR processes. Oracle HCM’s advanced features—such as predictive analytics, machine learning, digital assistants, and adaptive intelligence—further strengthened the organization's ability to optimize workforce management.
DataTerrain completed the migration within the planned timeline and budget. The customer now benefits from a modern, scalable reporting environment within Oracle HCM, supporting faster insights and improved productivity across global operations. As reporting needs evolve, the organization continues to expand its use of Oracle HCM reports and analytics, further strengthening its digital transformation efforts.
